This website is to allow prospective clients to view examples of my work and possibly offer up some ideas on the vast aray of hard surface floor coverings that are available today. There are a lot of options to choose from, some may be suitable for your situation, but some may not be.  That's a hard thing to figure out at times. Any advice that I offer is not predicated on what choice is simpler or easier for me to install, but what would be the best choice for your home and your family's lifestyle.

in 1995 I retired from a long career in sales for the home building and remodeling industry. In January of 1996 I started my own hard surface installation company and my business has increased steadily year after year.  I have over 38 years combined experience in the building & remodeling industry. I install each job myself and  take pride in my work. Being allowed to come into your home and perform work is an honor and priviledge for me.

With the exception of this website, I do no local advertising.  My work comes from either word of mouth, or a personal referral from a past client. I consider your home to be my home while I am in there working.

No shortcuts are ever considered. When I come across a "problem",  then I stop and correct it, instead of just covering it over.

I follow and abide by all the rule books and manuals on proper installation techniques and procedures. I install every job by the book  and the way it's supposed to be done. I frequently take on jobs most installers will not touch because of the difficulty involved.  I am one of the good and dedicated installers that most people have never heard of.

A  professional is supposed to do the right thing each and every time ... even when there is nobody around to see it. I do my best to fit in that catagory.  My work place is kept neat, clean and safe, because I realize that these type of occupied jobs are a major inconvience for homeowners to deal with.  I take an extreme amount of extra care to minimize that inconvience for my clients. My reputation was built on honesty, skill, product knowledge,  and for being very meticulous with  finish details.

To my knowledge I have never had a client that was not pleased with the end result. I warrant my work for one year and I ask all clients to call me  if a problem should arise after that and we will dicuss it. So far, so good ... I've not had any calls like that.

I belong to the NWFA (National Wood Flooring Association). This organization is the leading authority on hardwood floor installations and finishing. At present I do not own the equipment to perform any floor re-finishing.  I plan to get properly equipped and trained so I can offer that service in the next few years.

I do, however, perform all the sanding and finishing on my hardwood steps and stair railing jobs. Stair work requires knowledge and skill. When completed I want the appearance that the hardwood stairs have "always been there". That's not easy to do, and there are not that many companies able to accomplish that.

There is also an organization called the TCA (Tile Council of North America, Inc.) The TCA is the leading authority for ceramic tile and stone installations. They print a  handbook that covers every aspect of installing tile or stone and constructing leak proof showers. I purchase these handbooks and abide by their strict guidelines and methods for all my tile,  stone and shower jobs.

I am also a member of ProSource of Roanoke, which is my main local vendor for all types and brands of hardwoods, laminates and tile. They have a nice showroom and very good people on hand to help and assist you with all the choices available.  You would need a referral card from me to gain entrance. Just let me know and I can provide one.

Have a great day and call me If I can assist you in any way,

Jerry W Thomas
